Mobolaji Oriola is a Co-Founder and Managing Partner at Allen & Brooks, where he provides legal & business advisory services to local and international clients. Mobolaji’s educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in Law and a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA). He also holds a certificate in Reform Entrepreneurship from Incubator Africa, a certificate in Sustainable Business Strategy from the prestigious Harvard Business School, and is a graduate of the Private Equity Executive Programme at the Said Business School, University of Oxford.

In addition to his role as Managing Partner of the firm, he currently serves as a Member of the Executive Council of the Nigerian Bar Association, Section on Business Law. He is also a Member, Board of Trustees and President of The Riverwood Switch Foundation; a non-profit, developmental organization focused on providing free education and infrastructural development to financially disadvantaged children and schools in low-income communities across Nigeria.  

Prior to establishing Allen & Brooks, Mobolaji had gotten legal training and work experience from firms and companies like Shell Nigeria Exploration & Production Company, SPA Ajibade & Co, Perchstone & Graeys and Aluko & Oyebode.

Mobolaji’s extensive experience includes serving as a member of the joint team of legal consultants appointed by the Debt Management Office (DMO) to advise on the restructuring of Nigeria’s huge debt profile. He also served on the legal advisory team which handled the the issuance of a N25 Billion asset backed commercial papers. Mobolaji alongside a team of arbitrators represented three oil and gas companies over a financial dispute worth N1.7 billion dollars. Mobolaji has appeared in several court cases and won his first solo appearance, at the Court of Appeal. 

As an Energy & Finance Lawyer, he recently advised on a multi-million-dollar financing and EPC with respect to a Production Facility in the Niger Delta area of Nigeria.  He also advised on a vessel acquisition, for the purpose of providing dynamic positioning for offshore diving and other ancillary services. He has advised on a multi-jurisdictional acquisition of a Kenyan asset management company (Hisa) by a Nigerian fintech asset management company (Risevest), expanding their customer base from Sub-Saharan Africa into East Africa. He also advised a Nigerian construction company on a two-billion-naira financing for the construction of a real estate project consisting of town houses in Accra, Ghana.  He recently advised on a Farm Out transaction with respect to two marginal fields in Nigeria.

Mobolaji Oriola is a recipient of Unity Bank’s Humanitarian Award and Professor Smaranda Leadership Award. He is also a nominee for The Future Awards Africa Prize for Lawyers and recently won the Energy & Natural Resources Lawyer of the year by Global Law Experts, based in London, United Kingdom. He was recently featured as the top 50 most definitive and influential CEOs by The Guardian Newspapers.  He recently received the Aare Afe Babalola Founders Special Award in recognition of his work with Allen & Brooks. Mobolaji is a published author/writer with his thought pieces and articles published in several national and international platforms.
